Posting of workers to and from Italy

Posting of workers to and from Italy

We support foreign companies posting workers to Italy and Italian companies sending staff abroad, from the initial assessment to notifications, payroll and inspections.

We have hands-on experience in shipbuilding, façade installation and large construction projects, where postings are frequent and closely checked.

Posting workers to Italy

Companies established in another country that post workers to Italy must notify the Italian Ministry of Labour by midnight of the day before the posting starts, and guarantee Italian minimum working conditions (Legislative Decree 136/2016).

Additional rules apply to postings longer than 12 months, and employment documents must be available in Italian during inspections.

What we do

Posting workers from Italy abroad

For Italian employers we check the posting requirements, obtain A1 certificates from INPS for EU and EEA countries, Switzerland and the UK, handle non-EU countries and file the posting declarations required in the host country.

Frequently asked questions

How long can a posting with an A1 certificate last?

Within the EU and EEA, Switzerland and the UK, a posting covered by an A1 certificate can last up to 24 months, during which the worker remains insured in the sending country. Longer periods require a specific agreement between the social security institutions.

What happens if the posting notification is missing?

Missing or late notifications are fined for each worker concerned, and during an inspection the company must still prove that Italian working conditions were applied. It is best to set up the posting before the worker arrives.
